Hotel La Calcina

The hotel is perfectly situated in the Dorsoduro area, close to the centre of the city and not far from the Rialto bridge. The rooms are spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and a well-stocked mini-fridge. The staff provides excellent service, with the ability to communicate in both Italian and English. The breakfast is delicious and the wifi connection is strong and fast. Guests also appreciate the authentic vibe and warm welcome upon arrival.

The lounge area has been replaced by small restaurant tables, which can make it difficult to find a place to sit and relax.

The hotel's prime waterfront location is perfect for exploring the main sights of the city, including the nearby Gallerie dell'Accademia and San Marco. The staff at this hotel are incredibly helpful and empathetic, ensuring that all guests' needs are met. Despite being a three-star hotel, the attention to detail and service provided are of high quality. From the well-appointed and spotlessly clean rooms to the tasty breakfast with a nice fresh fruit salad and quality local food, everything is taken care of.

All aspects of my stay at this hotel were excellent.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The reception and restaurant areas were also very pleasant and well-maintained. In terms of location, the hotel was conveniently situated near important landmarks such as the Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim museums. it was easily accessible by Vaparetto, making it a great choice for exploring the city.

On the downside, the rooms were small and outdated. The decor had an old-world motif, but there were noticeable holes in the walls that were not covered up.

Located on a delightful open canal, this hotel offers a picturesque view of the water and the surrounding buildings. Away from the most tourist intensive areas, it provides a peaceful and authentic experience of the city. The hotel is conveniently situated for easy access to catch a water bus to wherever you need to go, including to and from the airport.

The hotel is a bit of a distance away from the train and bus stations, which may make it difficult for guests with large suitcases to reach.

Fine location on canal, comfortable rooms, lovely breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to major attractions, including Zattere and San Marco Square.

The hotel's location in the 'library' area was perfect for exploring this city. It was close to three vaporetto stops, making transportation convenient. The breakfast offered a great variety of choices, including cooked dishes upon request. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing excellent service.

Didn't dislike anything about the hotel.

This hotel in the Dorsoduro area is a gem. It's on a canal and just a stone's throw away from multiple vaporetto stops. The location is perfect, especially if you're visiting the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which is only a 3-minute walk away. The rooms by the water offer at least a partial view of the channel, giving you a glimpse of the picturesque Venetian scenery. The breakfast here is delightful, with a nice fresh fruit salad and quality local food to start your day off right.

We were kinda surprised by the fine location of La Calcina, situated right on the Giudecca Canal with beautiful views. The reception staff warmly greeted us upon arrival and check-in was smooth. Our room, although small, was nicely decorated and had all the necessary amenities. The air conditioning worked well, ensuring a comfortable stay. The buffet breakfast offered a good variety of options and we enjoyed eating outside on the terrace overlooking the canal. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with useful tips on getting around the city. Despite a few minor drawbacks mentioned in other reviews, we had a positive experience overall at La Calcina.
